China’s AD measure on Japan’s SS violates WTO agreement

The WTO dispute panel recently issued a report, saying that China’s anti-dumping (AD) measures imposed on stainless steel products from Japan go against the WTO agreement and recommending China bring its measures into conformity with the WTO agreement.

The AD duties of 18.1-29.0% were started to be imposed on Japan’s stainless steel billet and stainless steel hot-rolled plates/coils in July 2019, on the grounds that dumped stainless steel products from Japan has damaged China’s domestic industry.

At that time, besides Japan, China also started imposing AD duties on stainless steel products imported from South Korea, Indonesia, and the EU, based on the same reason.
